According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), although prolonged drought this year, but due to the high trees, grafted with drought tolerance, insect resistance, the productivity is very high. That average yields in the province of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai ... reach 1.5-1.7 t / ha, 2-fold increase over the previous year.


The objective of Vinacas: this year will plant 50,000 hectares of new varieties, the total output of 85,000 tons's exports to the US market, China, and expand markets such as Japan, the Middle East, Europe and ASEAN, exports reached $ 300 million.


In early 2004, the enterprise could only predict that the average price at 3300-3500 USD / ton, but when in service, the price of stability at around $ 3,800 / ton. Especially since the beginning of April until now, it's price soared from 4100-4200 USD / ton, up from US $ 600-800 / tonne from the previous year. In the Chinese market, the prices of some types of items that an average increase of $ 50 / ton / week. In the markets in Europe and North America, it also stood at the price or slightly higher.

Currently fresh price at the dealer in Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai ... about 9000-9500 / kg, higher than in 2003 from 1000-1500 VND / kg. Some business sectors that said, Vietnamese cashew prices much higher than in other countries due to the high conversion quality, the new varieties have gradually replaced the old variety degeneration; many factories have also focused on technologies for processing multiple items, increase the value of cashew nuts. Besides, the main competitors of Vietnam, India and Brazil also cut production this year due to the drought there is also the opportunity for cashews in water.


According to Vinacas, in April has many factories contracted delivery to the end of the year. However, according to Mr. Ho Ngoc Cam - Chairman of Vinacas, cashew processing capacity of the plant in the country today is higher than the output of the material, therefore, Vietnam still has to import crude from other countries in a while with some 50,000 tons / year.
